An American Icon: John Nieto
Ventana Fine Art celebrates three decades of representing John Nieto in Santa Fe with his 31st annual solo Indian Market exhibit of new works at Ventana. Acknowledged around the globe as first to bring fauvist color theory to paintings of people and animals native to North America, Nieto interprets a wide range of subjects and themes in distinctive stylistic variations, always with stunning originality and always yielding powerful aesthetic and emotional impact. His paintings have been acquired by the great museums of America and by innumerable enthusiastic collectors world-wide. He has influenced countless artists directly by mentoring and indirectly by thehis paintings. More than thirty new works including ten large portraits of Native American chiefs and warriors of great distinction and one of Colonel George A. Custer will attest anew to this great painter’s phenomenal vision and artistic skill in “An American Icon: John Nieto.” The show opens with a reception on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 5 to 7 pm and runs through September 5 with representation ongoing at Ventana.
