Ventana Fine Art announces an exhibition of the newest paintings of Dick Evans and the latest bronze and stone sculptures by Mark Yale Harris.
Dick Evans
Evans is best known for powerful compositions, mesmerizing surfaces, and clean, clear abstractions—mostly of Western landscapes, but occasionally of wholly imaginary places with equivalent beauty and drama. He paints in acrylic, either on canvas where the natural texture of the material allows a particular set of effects, or on rigid and ultra-smooth clay board, which permits him to create high-gloss surfaces with fluid characteristics. On both grounds he evokes moods both atmospheric and mysterious. Seventeen museums and more than a dozen corporations have acquired works of art by Evans, whose past mediums have included ceramic, bronze, and welded steel.
Mark Yale Harris
Mark Yale Harris left a successful career as a major hotelier to pursue his lifelong passion for sculpture. With Bill Prokofiof and Doug Hyde sharing their knowledge, talent, and wisdom as mentors, Harris mastered stone carving. He has created an evolving body of sculptures in alabaster, marble, limestone, and bronze. Graced with sensuous curves and soft angles, his human and animal figures evoke emotions relating to love, play, and repose. His sculptures have been exhibited at the Royal Academy of London, the National Sculpture Society, the Marin MOCA, the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Open Air Museum in Ube, Japan, and the Booth Western Art Museum. Meet both artists and enjoy the synergy of their two-person show at an opening reception on September 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show runs through October 9 with representation ongoing.
