Part of Santa Fe Art Week, The Golden Lecture Demo is a two hour free educational presentation by Phil Garrett on acrylic paints, gels and mediums. Golden has been well known since it started making acrylic paints in the 1980s. The lecture includes a review of Grounds that create contemporary surfaces for painting, drawing, pastel and mixed media. Covering the light fast nature of pigments, acrylic priming techniques, varnishing tips, health and safety concerns. The lecture also includes a brief intro into non-acrylic products Williamsburg Oil Colors and QoR Watercolors. A packet of literature and free samples of paint and gels will be available.
Phil Garrett is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute and is internationally recognized for his printmaking. His paintings and works on paper are in numerous public and private collections. He is a published author of “Inside Acrylics” published by North light Books in 2013. He joined the Golden artist colors working artist program in 1998.
The presentation participation is limited to twenty five people, registration is required.
The demo will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Ventana Fine Art Gallery East courtyard.
Lunch and seating will be provided to participants.
From 2:00-4:00 pm, Natasha Isenhour will demonstrate pastel painting en plein air.
